Tips To Know Before Buying A New Car

Posted by admin in Thursday, June 02nd 2011| Read comments (0)

How many times have you purchased a new car? Do you know a lot of people that have purchased new cars? The reason why I ask these two things is because when you or anybody that you know have never bought a new car then you don’t know what to look for or what to ask when buying your new car. What most people don’t understand is the fact that there are more questions you should ask when you are buying a new car and the reason is because new cars don’t have a lot of reviews out on them and they certainly don’t have the long term track record that an older car would have. Remember this because there are some things that you need to know before buying a new car.

Check more than the tires – Have you ever seen those movies where the people kick the tires and then buy the car because it is a good car? First of all, how do you know the car is good simply by kicking the tires? You don’t know anything by kicking the tires and that is why you need to look at the engine, check to make sure the seats are not ripped and just simple things like that.

Always negotiate – If you want to buy a new car then the one thing you have to do is negotiate the price down a bit. What you will quickly learn is car dealerships don’t have a lot of room to negotiate with the price and that is why you need to see what the dealership has in stock that they could add to your car. Maybe rims, a better sound system and possible even a DVD player.

No matter what kind of car you are planning on buying the one thing you need to understand is that the way you go about getting it is what you will feel the most accomplishment from. What most people worry about when they buy a new car is they are getting a bad deal and that is why you need to always check the car and make sure the price is what you are willing to pay for it.

You might even be lucky enough to get a wholesale price on your new car if you can find a dealership willing to do you a good deal!

Why it’s important to book a test drive

Shopping for used cars is a fantastic way to save money. When times are tough, you don’t want to be giving up all your hard earned cash, so any way to get value for money should be welcome. But making the right decision just by looking at pictures can be difficult, so it’s hugely important to take a test drive.

The thing about second hand cars is that you can get a lot of bang for your buck. Think about it, why pay full price for a brand new motor when you can get an even better model for much cheaper? The choice is obvious. Instead of driving around in an entry level Peugeot, you can be cruising around town in a BMW or sporty Ford.

Yes the internet is the best place to look for used cars, and yes you can pick up an incredible deal. But how do you know what the car will drive like just by looking at some images? It’s impossible to tell, so book a test drive. You’ll learn more in 5 minutes taking a spin around town than you ever would in 5 hours looking at a picture.

But what should you do on a test drive? The best advice is to find a quiet road to test handling and braking. Do a few starts, stops, slight swerves and even some bursts of acceleration. A hill start or 2 wouldn’t go amiss either. Basically you want to give the car the works to ensure everything is in working order. A test drive is the time to uncover any surprises, so really you should just drive normally and ensure everything is in one piece when you are out to your garage doors.

Buying a second hand car can be a fantastic way to get a fantastic deal on a great car. But if the thing breaks down on you as soon as you get it home, what’s the point? Taking a test drive will allow you to ensure everything is in working order, so give the car a hard time and you’ll reap the rewards if you go ahead with the purchase!
